Tanenbaum Harber Helps Bahamian Recovery Efforts

Hurricane Dorian is finally gone but has left a path of destruction in its wake. Dorian, a Category 5 hurricane was a long lived and extremely powerful storm whose top wind speeds were sustained at 185 MPH and whose central pressure dropped as low as 910 millibars. Dorian made landfall on August 31, 2019 at Elbow Cay and moved slowly eastward over the Abaco Islands and Grand Bahama Island, where it became essentially stationary from September 1st to September 3rd. When the storm finally moved north of the Bahamian Islands the scale of devastation was unlike anything the Bahamas have ever seen where upwards of 70,000 Bahamians were left homeless and homes and building were turn into piles of rubble.
The Tanenbaum Harber Team had been tracking Dorian as it developed from a tropical wave in the Central Atlantic to a powerful Cat 5. In preparation for what could have possibly been a hurricane impact to Florida and the southeastern US coastline, we activated our Catastrophe Emergency Plan. Employees were given time off in advance to prepare for the potential arrival of this powerful storm knowing that our job after a hurricane is to be there for our valued clients. Luckily, Southern Florida was spared the predicted hurricane force winds and most of our preparations were more of a real life drill than out of actual need. However, seeing the devastation that Dorian brought to the Northern Bahama Islands, Tanenbaum Harber management began collecting supplies for the victims and to help with the Islands recovery efforts. Employees brought in the emergency items they purchased for themselves for our suffering neighbors less than 100 miles from our coast. Donated items consisted of canned and packaged foods, coolers, tarps, batteries, power tools, pet foods, diapers, hygienic products and cases of bottled water.
I can’t express how proud and grateful I am of our amazing employees who have donated generously to this important recovery effort. #TH-STRONG
